Job Description

A software engineer role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance graphics and windowing system components for Mir, an open-source display server stack, utilizing C and Rust programming languages. The position involves collaboration with a global team, community engagement, and contributing to modern display technologies within the open source ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features across the Mir graphics stack
  • Debug, track down, and fix software issues
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews
  • Create and improve tests and performance benchmarks
  • Maintain documentation to enhance developer experience
  • Engage with the open source community and commercial partners
  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team

Requirements

  • Strong skills in both Rust and C programming languages.
  • A minimum of 2 years of industry experience.
  • Excellent modern C programming skills.
  • Excellent Rust programming skills.
  • Familiarity with Linux as a development and deployment platform.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Experience in designing and implementing features across the Mir stack.
  • Experience assisting in debugging, tracking down, and fixing issues in software.
  • Experience participating in engineering processes through code and architectural review.
  • Experience creating and improving tests and performance benchmarks to catch issues early.
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation to enhance the developer experience.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse set of team members and remain highly motivated, productive, and organized.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, each up to two weeks long.
