Job Description

The Business Services Team Manager at Canonical oversees travel, logistics, event planning, and administrative services to support company operations and large-scale events, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance in a fast-paced, global tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage travel, logistics, and event planning for company-wide events
  • Oversee travel procurement, visas, and logistics to ensure efficient and safe operations
  • Coordinate and approve expenses, ensuring fairness, transparency, and policy compliance
  • Plan and execute large-scale company events, including venue selection and operational logistics
  • Provide executive administrative services, including scheduling, report coordination, and delegated approvals
  • Manage small projects and initiatives related to travel, events, and administration
  • Ensure health, safety, and duty of care policies are implemented and maintained
  • Participate in event planning, safety reviews, and operational management to ensure smooth execution

Requirements

  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical or business subject
  • Demonstrable good judgement in matters involving money, policy and in-person interactions
  • Ability to work in a global, multicultural organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility
  • Responsibility, accountability, thoughtfulness and self-awareness
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments
  • Ability to travel up to four times a year, for company events up to two weeks long
  • Experience in travel industry, project management, event management and operations, or business and corporate administration (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Strong judgment and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to hold people accountable and defend positions of policy
  • Work ethic to move quickly through a large volume of work
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to every company event, including planning, venue selection, scheduling, operations and safety reviews
  • Experience with planning and managing complex company events four times a year
  • Ability to coordinate travel approvals, logistics, and operations
  • Experience in expense review in line with policies
  • Experience in managing or coordinating with suppliers
  • Ability to handle delegated approvals for travel and expenses
  • Experience in providing traditional EA services for company leads, including scheduling meetings and coordinating reports
  • Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision-making skills related to travel, logistics, expense policies, and event planning
  • Ability to work independently in a home-based environment, with flexibility to work in locations with company offices such as London, Taipei, and Beijing
