Job Description
This position involves supporting the design and analysis of structural systems for various building types under the supervision of a licensed engineer, utilizing engineering software and BIM tools, and assisting with construction documentation and site observations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze structural systems for various building types under supervision
- Perform design calculations using engineering software
- Create BIM models and produce Contract Documents including plans, sections, and details
- Coordinate structural systems with overall building design with the design team
- Review shop drawings during construction
- Conduct field observations and site walkthroughs during construction
Requirements
- Must have a Master in Civil Engineering with Structural focus, Master in Structural Engineering or Master of Architectural Engineering Structural emphasis from an ABET accredited program by the hire date.
- Related student internship work experience is preferred.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) and LEED accreditation are preferred.
- Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, RAM, and RISA is required.
- Willingness to perform overtime work.
- Ability to perform design calculations under the direct supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Ability to develop BIM models using Autodesk Revit for producing Contract Documents.
- Ability to assist in the production of Contract Documents including foundation plans, floor framing plans, roof plans, sections, details, and specifications.
- Ability to interface effectively with members of the design team to coordinate structural systems with overall building design.
- Ability to review shop drawings during the construction phase.
- Ability to perform field observations during construction, including physical site walkthroughs.
