This position is a senior-level specialist role leading architectural design and project management for large laboratory facilities, focusing on client collaboration, innovative solutions, and mentoring team members within a multidisciplinary design environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and serve as a subject matter expert on laboratory design projects, focusing on team and client leadership.
Develop, review, and modify planning concepts, architectural drawings, and project documentation for construction.
Collaborate with project teams to provide technical expertise in programming, planning, and space utilization.
Lead user group meetings to gather and refine program needs and assess space efficiency.
Communicate planning concepts effectively to clients, designers, and project teams through reports and presentations.
Incorporate sustainable design solutions into projects and develop project scope and plans.
Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related degree
Minimum of 12 years of related experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects ranging from large, complex, or multiple projects for the S T market
Previous experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects
Knowledge of building codes and requirements
Must possess strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client
Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam software
Ability to lead less experienced team members
Must have advanced knowledge in the discipline
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to be client-facing
Location and travel flexibility, with candidates that are local to the project site preferred; if not local, travel up to 50% of the time to the project site, other CannonDesign offices, client meetings, and stakeholder engagements
