Job Description

This position is a senior-level specialist role leading architectural design and project management for large laboratory facilities, focusing on client collaboration, innovative solutions, and mentoring team members within a multidisciplinary design environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and serve as a subject matter expert on laboratory design projects, focusing on team and client leadership.
  • Develop, review, and modify planning concepts, architectural drawings, and project documentation for construction.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide technical expertise in programming, planning, and space utilization.
  • Lead user group meetings to gather and refine program needs and assess space efficiency.
  • Communicate planning concepts effectively to clients, designers, and project teams through reports and presentations.
  • Incorporate sustainable design solutions into projects and develop project scope and plans.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide guidance to less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related degree
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects ranging from large, complex, or multiple projects for the S T market
  • Previous experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects
  • Knowledge of building codes and requirements
  • Must possess strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client
  • Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam software
  • Ability to lead less experienced team members
  • Must have advanced knowledge in the discipline
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to be client-facing
  • Location and travel flexibility, with candidates that are local to the project site preferred; if not local, travel up to 50% of the time to the project site, other CannonDesign offices, client meetings, and stakeholder engagements
