Job Description
This role involves leading and managing large, complex architectural projects, overseeing technical development, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring quality and compliance, and guiding projects from design through construction to meet client goals and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage technical aspects of large, complex projects from pre-design through completion.
- Coordinate and oversee project teams, including Project Architects, engineers, and interior designers.
- Develop and implement technical content and documentation strategies aligned with project goals.
- Establish and maintain project schedules, work plans, and budgets in collaboration with project managers.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve project-related technical issues and risks.
- Guide the development and execution of project quality plans and technical reviews.
- Ensure design intent is accurately translated into technical documentation and construction phases.
- Integrate building performance and sustainable design goals into project solutions.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning, and safety regulations throughout the project.
- Coordinate discipline-specific design and documentation efforts to align with project goals.
- Oversee construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals response.
- Mentor and train project team members to uphold technical quality and standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of related architectural experience required.
- Experience includes at least 5 years in increasingly responsible roles in construction documentation on institutional and/or commercial projects.
- At least 3 years in a responsible role in construction administration on large institutional or commercial projects with more than 250 million dollars in construction value.
- Previous experience managing production teams of 10 or more on projects of more than 250 million dollars in construction costs.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Current Architectural Registration in the United States required.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Demonstrated focus on quality.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes and zoning requirements.
- Exceptional team and client leadership skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen.
- Extensive technical knowledge.
- Exceptional coordination skills.
- Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software is required.
- Must have the ability to lead and delegate technical work of multiple project teams including Project Architects, project engineering, and interior design teams.
- Must be able to manage the integration of technical aspects and content of the work into instruments of service.
- Must be able to establish and maintain work and labor plans and deliverable schedules in collaboration with Project Managers and Project Directors.
- Must be able to participate in and contribute to the Project Risk Assessment process, including updates.
- Must be able to proactively identify, communicate, mitigate, and resolve project-related issues.
- Must be able to guide and assist Project Architects and project teams in developing Project Quality Plans and managing project quality including phase milestone reviews and technical charettes.
- Must be able to review development and lead execution of documentation strategy for each project phase.
- Must be able to lead the translation of project design intent through technical documentation and construction phases.
- Must be able to lead the integration of building performance and sustainable design goals into a holistic design solution.
- Must be able to monitor project documentation and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Must be able to guide and assist in Life Safety, Building, and Energy Code analysis and compliance processes.
- Must be able to coordinate all disciplines with the architectural design intent.
- Must be able to collaborate with Model Manager to monitor quality of model processes, content, and deliverables.
- Must be able to verify and coordinate contract documentation with Project Manual content and drawings.
- Must be able to lead all aspects of Construction Administration responsibilities, including timely responses to RFIs and submittals.
- Must be able to mentor, train, and direct the work of all project team members, focusing on technical quality and process standards.
- Must meet established utilization targets.
- Must participate in business development activities.
- Must have significant on-site presence at client meetings and in-office team meetings.
- Must complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to internal policies and Code of Conduct as a condition of employment.
