This position involves designing and managing plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for various construction projects, including educational, healthcare, and commercial buildings, with responsibilities spanning from schematic design to construction administration and client coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Design and direct plumbing and fire protection systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
Assist with HVAC system design as needed.
Supervise or provide project management within the mechanical discipline, monitoring progress and budgets.
Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
Edit specifications for existing or new projects.
Research and respond to emergent technical issues.
Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Participate in construction meetings and coordinate work activities with project team members.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) in the United States required.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Must possess a working knowledge and experience in mechanical design, while still acquiring higher level knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
