Job Description
Assist in designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for building projects under the supervision of a licensed engineer, including creating construction drawings, performing load calculations, and reviewing submittals, primarily using Revit BIM modeling software.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform designs of uncomplicated piping and equipment selection for HVAC systems under supervision
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection system designs as needed
- Prepare Building Load Calculations and energy models using modeling software under supervisory oversight
- Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents
- Research and respond to emergent issues related to projects
- Draft reports for review by a professional engineer
- Gather information and assist in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
- Coordinate specific activities related to project elements
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
- Ability to perform designs of uncomplicated piping and equipment selection for HVAC systems for building design under supervision of a professional engineer.
- Ability to prepare Building Load Calculations using modeling software under supervisory direction.
- Ability to prepare energy models using appropriate software with supervisory oversight.
- Ability to prepare Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings, with supervisory oversight.
- Ability to perform Revit BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems as necessary.
- Ability to review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
- Ability to assist with editing specifications relating to existing and new projects.
- Ability to respond to emergent issues through research as assigned.
- Ability to write draft reports to be reviewed by a professional engineer.
- Ability to assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to perform job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
