This position involves leading the design and oversight of HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, including modeling, equipment specification, and project management, while providing technical guidance to a multidisciplinary team in educational, healthcare, and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large-scale buildings
Perform independent mechanical design work across disciplines and assist with plumbing and fire protection designs as needed
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to design and engineering team members
Create Revit BIM models for construction drawings of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents
Participate in client and project team meetings, including site visits and construction administration activities
Lead or contribute to value engineering sessions and recommend process improvements
Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and verify existing conditions during construction
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States required.
Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes required.
Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
