Job Description
Assist in the design and development of interior spaces through all project phases, including creating drawings, selecting furniture and materials, and supporting construction administration activities, within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior interior designer and project manager in executing project goals across all phases including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
- Develop interior space designs through planning, 3D studies, and documentation such as floor plans, elevations, and details
- Support furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection, layout, and specifications throughout project phases
- Produce drawings adhering to project constraints and follow drawing standards
- Research and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work
- Prepare renderings and presentation materials for client and team review
- Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals, and punch list completion
- Mentor less experienced interior design staff and guide project document development
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
- Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
- Must be able to participate in the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
- Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Ability to assist in the execution of project goals throughout all phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
- Ability to independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, etc.
- Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Ability to identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
- Ability to prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
- Ability to follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
- Ability to participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
- Ability to participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list.
- Physical ability to frequently perform site walk-throughs.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Adherence to internal policies, including completing mandatory training and compliance requirements.
