Job Description

Assist in the design and development of interior spaces through all project phases, including creating drawings, selecting furniture and materials, and supporting construction administration activities, within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior interior designer and project manager in executing project goals across all phases including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
  • Develop interior space designs through planning, 3D studies, and documentation such as floor plans, elevations, and details
  • Support furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection, layout, and specifications throughout project phases
  • Produce drawings adhering to project constraints and follow drawing standards
  • Research and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work
  • Prepare renderings and presentation materials for client and team review
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals, and punch list completion
  • Mentor less experienced interior design staff and guide project document development

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to participate in the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
  • Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Ability to assist in the execution of project goals throughout all phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
  • Ability to independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, etc.
  • Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Ability to identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
  • Ability to prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
  • Ability to follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
  • Ability to participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
  • Ability to participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list.
  • Physical ability to frequently perform site walk-throughs.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Adherence to internal policies, including completing mandatory training and compliance requirements.
