Job Description
This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects across various sectors such as healthcare, education, and commercial, including preparing construction documents, overseeing site visits, and guiding team members under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
- Perform electrical systems design for building construction
- Prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications
- Guide team members in execution of drawings and specify electrical equipment
- Conduct quality control checks of engineering documents and layouts
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Attend and participate in construction meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of related electrical engineering experience.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Experience in electrical systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients.
- Ability to prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment.
- Ability to perform quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Experience participating in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Experience responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Experience attending and participating in construction meetings.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
