Job Description
This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial, with responsibilities such as creating construction documents, overseeing site visits, and guiding team members under the supervision of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
- Perform electrical systems design for building projects
- Prepare construction documents, drawings, and specifications
- Guide and review work of less experienced team members
- Specify electrical equipment and components
- Conduct quality control checks on engineering documents and layouts
- Participate in value engineering and process improvement sessions
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Attend and contribute to construction meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Must possess working knowledge and experience in electrical engineering systems design, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients.
- Ability to perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction in compliance with applicable codes.
- Experience in preparing construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment.
- Experience in completing quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Experience in reviewing and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Experience in responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
