Job Description

This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects in various sectors such as healthcare, education, and commercial, working as part of a multidisciplinary team under senior engineers. Responsibilities include developing design plans, preparing construction documents, conducting site visits, and ensuring project quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
  • Assume project engineering responsibilities and meet financial and work goals
  • Initiate and develop electrical system designs for building projects
  • Design electrical systems including lighting, power, signaling, and communication for various clients
  • Prepare construction documents such as drawings and specifications
  • Guide junior team members in executing drawings
  • Specify electrical equipment for projects
  • Perform quality control checks on engineering documents and layouts
  • Participate in value engineering sessions to improve design quality and efficiency
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
  • Experience in performing electrical engineering systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients per applicable codes.
  • Ability to prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in guiding less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
  • Ability to specify electrical equipment.
  • Experience in completing quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
  • Experience participating in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams.
  • Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
  • Experience responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
  • Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
  • Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
