Job Description
This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects in various sectors such as healthcare, education, and commercial, working as part of a multidisciplinary team under senior engineers. Responsibilities include developing design plans, preparing construction documents, conducting site visits, and ensuring project quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
- Assume project engineering responsibilities and meet financial and work goals
- Initiate and develop electrical system designs for building projects
- Design electrical systems including lighting, power, signaling, and communication for various clients
- Prepare construction documents such as drawings and specifications
- Guide junior team members in executing drawings
- Specify electrical equipment for projects
- Perform quality control checks on engineering documents and layouts
- Participate in value engineering sessions to improve design quality and efficiency
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Attend and participate in construction meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Experience in performing electrical engineering systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients per applicable codes.
- Ability to prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in guiding less experienced team members in the execution of drawings.
- Ability to specify electrical equipment.
- Experience in completing quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Experience participating in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Experience responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
