Job Description
A Civil Structural Engineer responsible for leading field evaluations, analyzing data, developing analytical models, and designing rehabilitation or replacement plans for industrial structures, while providing technical support and client interface in a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field evaluation of existing industrial structures
- Develop calculations and analytical models for steel, concrete, and other materials
- Design structural rehabilitation and replacement plans
- Specify materials and develop technical reports
- Provide technical support for structural construction
- Interface with clients for proposals and estimates
- Lead root cause failure analysis of structural defects
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering
- P.E. licensure is required
- Extensive knowledge of STAAD, SAP, AISC, and AWS technical standards and software
- Ability to develop calculations and analytical models in steel, concrete, and other materials
- Experience leading field evaluation of existing structures
- Experience leading the design of structural rehabilitation and/or replacement plans
- Ability to specify materials and develop reports related to structural assessments and designs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under licensed S.E.s to progress towards professional licensure
- Must meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments
- Physical mobility on the ground and at heights, including the ability to climb ladders, stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using fall protection
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces
- Must adhere to client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
- Must meet client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
