Job Description
A structural designer responsible for leading field evaluations of industrial structures, obtaining measurements, and developing detailed BIM 3D and 2D AutoCAD drawings for engineering projects, while overseeing drafting quality and supporting technological and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field evaluations and measurements of structures to develop repair or replacement drawings
- Design and draft complex structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
- Develop design portions of evaluation reports
- Perform quality control of drafting produced by others
- Drive the implementation of new applications for existing and emerging technologies
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to less experienced drafters
Requirements
- Possess a 2-year technical degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural design or related field.
- Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and BIM 3D Modelling software.
- Experience with CADWorx, S3D, E3D, or similar 3D modeling tools.
- Exposure to Bluebeam and Advanced Steel is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Revit experience is required.
- Ability to lead field evaluations and measurements of structures to develop repair or replacement drawings.
- Ability to design draft complex structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
- Ability to lead in the development of design portions of evaluation reports.
- Ability to perform quality control of drafting produced by others.
- Ability to develop plans for and drive the implementation of new applications for existing and emerging technologies.
- Provide technical oversight of less experienced drafters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments.
- Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights.
- Able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE.
- Able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
- Able to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
- Able to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
