A Staff Process Engineer is responsible for leading process design, analysis, and evaluation of industrial process units in refinery and chemical facilities, providing technical support, developing process documentation, and ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Lead process design for new and existing facilities
Analyze, calculate, and design process equipment for industrial applications
Perform evaluations of existing process units
Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Create design documentation and equipment specifications
Compile scope of work packages for construction
Coordinate with clients and contractors, including meetings and reporting
Provide technical support during field execution and outage projects
Assist in constructability planning, proposals, and estimates
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering
Knowledge of P ID development, heat and material balances, hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations, relief device sizing, API standards, and ASME codes required
Knowledge of process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS preferred
Experience mentoring and leading small teams required
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required
Must be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment
Physical mobility on the ground and at heights required
Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE
Ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces
Willingness to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
Willingness to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
