Job Description
A Mechanical Engineer responsible for providing field technical support, overseeing maintenance, outages, and projects related to static equipment, including engineering design, inspection, and client interface, primarily in industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field technical support, inspection, construction oversight, and reporting at client sites and vendors.
- Produce engineering packages and bid documents in accordance with codes and client specifications.
- Develop repair drawings, perform calculations, and recommend repair or replacement solutions for static equipment.
- Lead client and contractor interface, attend meetings, and prepare reports.
- Support field execution activities, including outage turnaround projects.
- Assist in constructability planning, proposal development, and cost estimation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in relevant engineering roles
- P.E. licensure (Professional Engineer license)
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.1, and ASME VIII Div I codes (at least 2 of these required)
- Knowledge of API 510, API 570, API 650, and API 653 standards
- Ability to produce engineering packages and bid documents in accordance with code and client specifications
- Ability to interface across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
- Ability to perform calculations, develop repair drawings, and provide repair replacement recommendations, specifications, and scope of work packages for construction
- Experience in field technical support, construction oversight, inspection, and reporting at client sites and vendors
- Experience in leading client and contractor interface, attending meetings, and providing written reports
- Experience in providing technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
- Experience in assist in constructability planning, proposal, and estimate development
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to mentor and lead small teams
- Ability to manage multi-discipline technical and managerial issues at an advanced level
- Experience in equipment construction and maintenance at an advanced level
- Exposure to operating facilities
- Ability to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments
- Physical mobility on the ground and at heights
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
- Willingness and ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using fall protection equipment
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE
- Ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces
- Willingness to adhere to client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
- Willingness to meet client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
