Job Description

The Sr. Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing process instrumentation solutions, including control valves and automated valves, while leading projects, providing technical support, and mentoring junior engineers in accordance with client standards and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client requirements and standards for process instrumentation
  • Develop detailed instrumentation designs, specifications, and sizing solutions
  • Prepare instrumentation proposals based on RFQs and standards
  • Lead instrument projects and manage client technical meetings and presentations
  • Select and size process instrumentation and interface with vendors
  • Conduct field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
  • Provide technical support during field execution and outage turnaround projects
  • Mentor and lead junior and intermediate instrument engineers
  • Develop and manage instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
  • Assist in developing instrument group standards, work processes, and deliverables

Requirements

  • BSc in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the relevant field
  • P.E. licensure (Professional Engineer license)
  • Experience with reviewing client requirements and standards for process instrumentation
  • Experience developing instrumentation solutions including detailed designs, specifications, and sizing of process instrumentation, control valves, and on/off automated valves
  • Experience with DCS (Distributed Control System) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to mentor intermediate and junior instrument engineers
  • Knowledge of ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
  • Knowledge of SPI and instrument vendors sizing software
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare instrumentation proposals based on client RFQs and standards
  • Ability to lead instrument projects and manage client technical meetings and presentations
  • Ability to develop and manage instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
  • Ability to lead selection and sizing of process instrumentation and interface with instrument vendors
  • Ability to lead field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
  • Ability to provide technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
