Job Description
The Sr. Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing process instrumentation solutions for industrial projects, including leading technical evaluations, vendor interface, and field support, while mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client requirements and standards for process instrumentation
- Develop detailed instrumentation designs, specifications, and sizing solutions
- Prepare instrumentation proposals based on RFQs and standards
- Lead instrument projects and manage client technical meetings and presentations
- Select and size process instrumentation and interface with vendors
- Conduct field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
- Provide technical support during field execution and outage turnaround projects
- Mentor and lead junior and intermediate instrument engineers
- Develop and manage instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
Requirements
- BSc in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering
- Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Knowledge of ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
- Knowledge of SPI and instrument vendors sizing software
- Experience in preparing instrumentation proposals based on client RFQs and standards
- Experience leading instrument projects and managing client technical meetings and presentations
- Experience developing and managing instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
- Experience leading selection and sizing of process instrumentation and interfacing with instrument vendors
- Experience conducting field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
- Experience providing technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Mentoring and leading teams of intermediate and junior instrument engineers
- Ability to review client requirements and standards for process instrumentation and develop detailed designs and specifications
- Must be capable of managing individual field assignments with unique client-specific requirements
- Physical mobility on the ground and at heights, including the ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Must adhere to client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
- Must meet client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
