The Senior Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing process instrumentation solutions, including control valves and automated valves, while leading projects, coordinating with vendors, and mentoring junior engineers in a dynamic industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review client requirements and standards for process instrumentation
Develop detailed instrumentation designs, specifications, and sizing solutions
Prepare instrumentation proposals based on RFQs and standards
Lead instrument projects and manage client technical meetings and presentations
Select and size process instrumentation and interface with vendors
Conduct field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
Provide technical support during field execution and outage turnaround projects
Mentor and lead junior and intermediate instrument engineers
Develop and manage instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
Assist in developing instrument group standards, work processes, and deliverables
Requirements
BSc in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering
Must be experienced with DCS and PLC systems
Knowledge of ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
Knowledge of SPI and instrument vendors sizing software
Management experience mentoring and leading teams is required
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Must be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Must be able to review client requirements and standards for new or updated process instrumentation
Must develop instrumentation solutions including detailed designs, specifications, and sizing of process instrumentation, including control valves and on/off automated valves
Must lead selection and sizing of process instrumentation and interface with instrument vendors
Must lead field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
Must provide technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
Must be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments
Must possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights
Must be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
Must be able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE
Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces
Must adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
Must meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
P.E. licensure is required
