A Lead Process Engineer responsible for designing, evaluating, and providing technical direction for process units in refinery and chemical facilities, including calculations, documentation, and field support to optimize industrial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead field and technical evaluations of existing process units
Provide technical direction for refinery and chemical process units and licensed technologies
Perform calculations, develop PFDs and P IDs, and prepare design documentation
Develop equipment specifications and compile scope of work packages for construction
Interface with clients and contractors, attend meetings, and produce reports
Support field execution activities, including outage turnaround projects
Assist in constructability planning, proposal development, and estimate creation
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering
P.E. licensure (Professional Engineer license)
Knowledge of P ID development, heat and material balances, hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations, relief device sizing, API standards, and ASME codes required
Strong technical knowledge of refinery and chemical plant unit operations and/or licensed technologies
Mentoring and leading teams required
Must possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights
Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots
Ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces
Must be able to meet client-specific site requirements prior to deployment, including adherence to safety policies such as drug testing and facial hair policies
