The Instrument Engineer assists in developing and managing instrumentation project deliverables, performs site surveys, and prepares documentation for process instrumentation under supervision, supporting project execution and industry standards compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in generating instrumentation project deliverables for new or updated process instrumentation
Perform project site surveys and walkdowns of existing instrumentation
Develop and prepare as-built or as-found instrumentation documentation
Conduct client documentation searches for required project documents
Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 1 year and maximum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
E.I.T. licensure (Engineer-in-Training) is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Microsoft Windows, and PC hardware.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to assist with instrument site surveys and walkdowns.
Ability to develop and prepare as-built or as-found instrumentation documentation.
Ability to perform client instrument documentation searches to find required project documents.
Ability to assist with generating instrumentation data, sheets, loop drawings, installation details, instrument lists, DCS PLC I/O lists, and P&IDs.
Must meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment, including physical mobility on the ground and at heights.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
Must adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
Must meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
