The Associate Process Engineer is responsible for assisting in process design, analysis, and evaluation of industrial facilities, providing technical support, and developing process documentation to optimize operations in refinery, chemical, and other industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field and technical evaluations of existing process units
Perform calculations and develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Provide design documentation for downstream engineering disciplines
Develop equipment specifications and compile scope of work packages for construction
Interface with clients and construction teams, attend meetings, and prepare reports
Provide technical support during field execution, including outage turnaround projects
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering
E.I.T. licensure is required; PE license is a plus
Knowledge of P ID development, heat and material balances, hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations, relief device sizing, API standards, and ASME codes
Knowledge of process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS
Experience in coordinating across multiple disciplines
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Must be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment, including physical mobility on the ground and at heights, ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE
Must be able to work in confined spaces and adhere to client safety policies, including random drug testing and facial hair safety policies
Ability to perform field evaluations, calculations, develop PFDs and P IDs, provide design documentation, develop equipment specifications, and compile scope of work packages
Ability to interface with clients and construction teams, attend meetings, and provide written reports
Ability to provide technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
