Job Description
The role involves overseeing safety protocols and compliance at geothermal drilling sites, including developing safety procedures, conducting audits, and managing safety documentation to ensure a safe working environment in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols and procedures for geothermal drilling operations
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure OSHA compliance and company policies
- Maintain safety documentation including risk assessments, safety plans, and incident reports
- Provide on-site safety oversight during drilling operations and conduct daily safety briefings
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Prepare safety reports and ensure safety records are organized and accessible for audits
Requirements
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols and procedures specific to geothermal drilling operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Update and maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety plans, and incident reports.
- Provide on-site safety oversight during drilling operations while conducting daily safety briefings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety protocols.
- Develop and distribute safety training materials.
- Stay updated on the latest safety regulations and best practices to ensure the company's compliance and training programs are current.
- Lead investigations into any incidents or near-misses to identify root causes and corrective actions, and prepare detailed reports on incidents and safety performance metrics.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Prepare and submit regular safety reports to project managers and senior management.
- Ensure all safety documentation is organized and readily accessible for audits and inspections.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety coordination role, preferably in construction, drilling, or renewable energy sectors.
- Have strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Hold or be able to secure within the first 90 days of employment certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Certification, First Aid CPR Certification, and HAZWOPER Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Certification.
- Have a thorough understanding of Connecticut OSHA (CONN-OSHA) standards and requirements.
- Be capable of developing and implementing site-specific safety programs.
- Be competent in conducting hazard assessments and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Have experience in providing safety training tailored to construction job site requirements.
- Be familiar with state-specific regulations concerning excavation, drilling, and heavy machinery operation.
- Be able to coordinate with state regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Possess knowledge of state-specific incident reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
- Be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with an expectation of an average of 40 hours, including overtime as scheduled.
- Be willing to travel 100% within the greater Northeast Region of the United States (CT, MA, NY, ME, VT, NH, NJ), including being away from home Monday through Friday with scheduled Saturdays, and accept lodging for overnight stays.
- Work in a site setting environment.
- Operate in a safety-sensitive position requiring a pre-employment background check, criminal history check, and pre-employment drug screen, with compliance to DOT regulations 49 CFR 40.25 regarding drug and alcohol testing records.
- Comply with Brightcore Energy’s drug and alcohol-free workplace policy.
- Be willing to work in a hybrid work environment with up to two days per week remote work, subject to supervisor approval.
