Job Description
This position involves mobilizing and operating geothermal drilling equipment for commercial projects across the Northeast U.S., ensuring safety and efficiency while installing test wells and conducting feasibility studies as part of a geothermal energy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Mobilize drilling equipment for commercial applications within urban and suburban environments
- Perform geotechnical and environmental geothermal drilling methods
- Install test wells and conduct feasibility studies with the geothermal team
- Operate, maintain, and care for drill rigs and related equipment
- Ensure safety, organization, and security of all equipment and personnel on site
- Oversee site safety and the safety of the drilling crew
- Understand mechanics and requirements for drill sites
- Transport and load materials and equipment, including hauling and lifting heavy loads
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, standing and bending for extended periods
Requirements
- Must have active Maryland Driller's License.
- Must have active CDL-A license.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have an OSHA 30 SST card.
- Flagger certification strongly preferred.
- Prior experience operating drilling equipment is a must.
- Understand and follow utility locate law and compliance procedures, safety protocols, instructions, and quality regulations.
- Must have at least 5 years of construction and/or drilling experience in NY, NJ, CT, or MA.
- Experience with geothermal heat pumps.
- Must be willing to travel 100% in Maryland and the greater Northeast Region of the United States, including CT, MA, NY, ME, VT, NH, NJ, and MD.
- Willingness to be away from home Monday through Friday with scheduled Saturdays, with lodging provided for overnight stays.
- Ability to haul, lift 60-80 lbs., move, load, and dig materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work comfortably outdoors in all weather conditions.
- This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a pre-employment background check, criminal history check, and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must understand mechanics and requirements for drill sites.
- Must understand and follow safety protocols, instructions, and quality regulations related to utility locate law and compliance.
- Must be willing to cross-train in different tasks as needed.
Benefits & Perks
Hourly rate between $50.63 and $60.00 with eligibility for overtime pay
Work schedule of at least 40 hours per week, with potential for additional hours
Hybrid remote work option allowing up to 2 days per week remote work
Lodging provided for overnight stays during travel
