Job Description
The Lead Civil Engineer at Blue Ridge Power will manage civil site development for solar projects, overseeing design, permitting, and compliance while coordinating with external consultants and internal teams to ensure project success. This role requires significant experience in civil engineering and project management within the solar industry.
Responsibilities
- •Manage all aspects of civil site development, including due diligence, design, and permitting.
- •Review scope of work requirements and submit requests for design service proposals to external consulting engineers.
- •Identify high-level key project constraints.
- •Investigate local, state, and federal regulatory requirements to ensure project compliance.
- •Oversee external engineering consultants to ensure timely project design and deliverables meet quality expectations.
- •Create and utilize engineering management tools and templates.
- •Perform detailed QA QC reviews of engineering deliverables and work with team members to address comments.
- •Coordinate with engineering project manager, owner’s engineers, AHJs, and construction managers for effective project implementation.
- •Manage budgets, milestones, schedules, and deliverables.
- •Perform occasional construction site visits and inspections.
- •Work with construction teams to solve problems around various construction issues.
- •Assist with project closeout and preparation of record drawings.
Requirements
- •8 years of experience working as a civil engineer.
- •5 years of experience in a managerial position.
- •3 years of experience in the solar industry.
- •Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- •In-depth knowledge of site design principles, grading, erosion control, stormwater management, and permitting.
- •Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other related engineering degree required.
- •Professional Engineer License required.
- •Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.
- •Availability to perform construction site visits when relevant.
- •Ability to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods.
- •May require lifting carrying items up to 30 pounds.
