A battery manufacturing technician responsible for producing and assembling high-energy-density silicon solid-state batteries, performing material characterization, and maintaining laboratory operations to support innovative energy storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Produce battery components and assemble cells for testing
Process electrode materials, including slurry mixing, coating, stacking, and sealing
Characterize cell materials using analytical techniques
Maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness
Perform preventative maintenance and calibrations on equipment
Accurately document materials and process data
Adapt to evolving manufacturing processes while maintaining detailed records
Requirements
Three years of work experience in a fast-paced lab or manufacturing environment requiring high accuracy execution of processes or experiments.
Previous experience with powder processing, including powder mixing, synthesis process, sieving, and classification.
Previous experience with roll-to-roll process and machine operations such as slot die coating, gravure coating, comma coating, calendering, and slitting.
Experience handling powders, solvents, and various types of mixers.
Previous experience with battery cell assembly processes including stamping, stacking, JR winding, ultrasonic welding, and pouch sealing.
Previous glovebox and dry room experience.
Previous chemical manufacturing experience.
Ability to work in an environment that requires strong attention to detail and precision.
Ability to maintain consistent and thorough documentation and follow standard operating procedures.
Ability to work in a dry room and glove box for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods and perform hand-intensive, repetitive tasks.
Above-average manual dexterity and visual acuity.
Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with experience working with team members to overcome technical challenges.
Clear written and verbal communication skills to logically convey ideas and thought processes.
Adherence to lab and work safety policies.
Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Familiarity with analytical tools such as SEM, XRD, TGA, Viscometer, Rheometer, Particle size analyzer, Microscope, and Powder characteristics measurement tools like bulk tap density, micrometer.
Experience working in a chemical laboratory and handling hazardous materials.
Basic knowledge of chemistry, including understanding of acids, bases, pH, and associated risks.
Ability to reliably commute to Hayward, CA or plan to relocate before starting work.
