A hands-on Technician responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, and testing of solid-state batteries in a research and development laboratory, ensuring quality, safety, and efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble materials for battery fabrication ensuring quality and throughput
Operate and support fabrication and assembly equipment
Identify and communicate issues impacting build quality or timelines
Manage inventory of consumables and materials
Set up test fixtures, perform tests, and document results
Follow work orders, SOPs, and documentation protocols
Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab spaces
Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks
Participate in cross-training across battery fabrication steps
Communicate effectively with team members and across shifts
Requirements
Associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on training experience
2 years of hands-on experience in a technical, laboratory, or precision manufacturing environment (e.g., batteries, semiconductors, medical devices, aerospace, automotive)
Ability to follow detailed test procedures and maintain accurate, high-quality records
Working knowledge of safety practices, including chemical handling, PPE, and lab protocols
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to prepare and assemble key materials for R D battery fabrication, including current collectors, tabs, pouches, ensuring high quality, consistency, and throughput
Ability to operate and support equipment used in fabrication and assembly processes, such as sealers, cutters, presses, ultrasonic welders
Ability to identify and communicate issues with materials, equipment, or processes that may impact build quality or timelines
Ability to manage inventory of consumables and materials, including tracking usage, restocking, and coordinating with purchasing to prevent shortages
Ability to set up test fixtures, load/unload cells, perform tests, and ensure proper test configuration and documentation
Ability to follow work orders, SOPs, and documentation protocols to ensure consistency, traceability, and quality
Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of lab spaces, including fume hoods, gloveboxes, clean rooms, and shared work areas, and perform routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks
Willingness to participate in cross-training to build versatility across multiple battery fabrication steps
Physical ability to perform precise manual tasks while standing at a glovebox for up to 8 hours per day, with fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to manipulate tools and materials through gloves
Ability to maintain a standing or slightly leaned position for long durations, including reaching and extending arms within the glovebox environment
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment or materials weighing up to 25 lbs occasionally
Availability to work in a standard R D laboratory environment with adaptable core hours, with increased availability during peak periods
