Job Description
The Director of Project Finance manages the analysis and execution of financing strategies for utility-scale solar and storage projects, supporting all transaction phases from development to divestiture, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project funding and closure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage analysis of financing options for utility-scale solar and storage projects
- Support transaction execution from acquisition to divestiture
- Identify potential investors and develop strategies for project financing
- Create and maintain complex financial models for project evaluation
- Synthesize and model terms of construction loans, tax equity bridge loans, and sponsor equity structures
- Review project documentation and integrate assumptions into financial models
- Assess financeability issues related to major project contracts
- Develop and run sensitivities to evaluate impact on key financial metrics
- Create marketing materials for fundraising and manage data rooms
- Coordinate closing processes to achieve financial close within tight timeframes
- Update underwriting standards to ensure accurate financial modeling assumptions
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-8 years of project finance or investment banking experience in the renewable energy or similar industry.
- Strong financial modeling capabilities and structuring experience.
- Familiarity with project finance structures, including tax equity, construction financing, and back-leverage.
- Experience creating marketing materials, including teasers, Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs), and managing data rooms.
- Demonstrated ability to bring closure to complex and high-value financings transactions under tight timeframes.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including managing the financial, legal, and internal review and approval process to successfully close transactions.
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to build relationships and work in cross-functional collaborative teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
