Job Description
The Principal Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and developing design standards for complex high-voltage electrical transmission projects, including overhead and underground lines, supporting utility crossings, routing, siting, and coordinating with various teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop design standards and provide technical leadership for complex electrical transmission projects.
- Define design requirements for transmission line design and construction from 34.5kV to 500kV.
- Manage and coordinate sub-consultants supporting utility crossings for transmission lines.
- Plan and evaluate new transmission line routing and siting for pipeline projects.
- Review engineering submittals from consultants and engineers of record.
Requirements
- Degree or Advanced Degree in Engineering
- 15 years of experience in transmission line engineering experience in electrical utility industry
- Extensive experience in PLS-CADD, PLS-CAISSON, PLS-POLE, PLS-SAPS
- Experience in defining design requirements to support transmission line design and construction on projects from 34.5kV overhead MV to 500kV
- Experience in managing and coordinating sub-consultants to support utility crossings for transmission lines
- Experience in new transmission line routing and siting for prospective and pipeline projects
- Experience in reviewing and engineering submittals from consultants and EORs
- Knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE ACI
- Experience in coordination between substation engineering, Land, Permitting, real estate, and EPC teams
- Strong Project Management skillset and experience
- Ability to work as a self-starter on multiple projects with various deadlines across the development pipeline
- Strong communication skills to liaise with internal Development team and electric utilities

Compensation/salary range: $151,725 - $200,000 USD plus bonus
