Job Description
The Vehicle Operations Lead at Aurora is responsible for managing and supporting vehicle operations teams, ensuring safety, efficiency, and collaboration in the deployment and testing of self-driving vehicles, primarily working night and weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of vehicle operators for commercial trucks and passenger vehicles.
- Establish and promote a safety-focused and motivated safety culture within the vehicle operations team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational initiatives and communicate essential information to team members.
- Develop team members through coaching, performance feedback, and supporting their growth and development.
- Act as the point of contact for key vehicle operations projects and provide updates to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with Aurora policies and the Vehicle Operations Manual.
- Support vehicle testing and operations by becoming certified as a Vehicle Operator.
- Represent Aurora professionally as an ambassador during public interactions.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Ability to work the scheduled shift 5 30 pm to 4 30 am, 7 am-6 pm, or 1 am - 9 am, including early mornings, late nights, and rotating shifts
- Availability to work scheduled days Monday - Friday or Friday - Monday, including weekends and overtime as required
- Ability to travel for up to one month at a time, up to 30% of your time
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Safety-focused mindset and ability to lead by example, motivate teams, and establish an inspired safety culture for all in-vehicle teams
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize testing deliverables and assignments to drive efficiency gains through process improvement
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate essential information to team members and leadership
- Ability to develop and drive team growth by building on individual strengths and opportunities, including documenting and delivering performance feedback regularly through 1-on-1s
- Ability to act as a point of contact for key Vehicle Operations projects and provide regular updates to the leadership team
- Ability to work in a highly organized manner, with a complete understanding of risk analysis and management
- Willingness to become certified as a Vehicle Operator to support excess in-vehicle testing and to better understand the day-to-day responsibilities of direct reports
Benefits & Perks
Base salary range of $80,000 - $105,000 per year
