Job Description
The System Test Engineer will develop and execute testing strategies for the perception subsystem of Aurora's autonomous driving system, analyzing performance, identifying issues, and collaborating with teams to ensure system safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test strategies, plans, and procedures for the Perception subsystem of the Aurora Driver.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific sub-system capabilities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements.
- Design, implement, and coordinate diverse testing methods including simulation, track, and road testing to support system verification and validation.
- Execute tests, analyze results, and identify defects or anomalies in subsystem behavior.
- Work with development teams to assess performance, investigate root causes, and facilitate resolution of issues prior to release.
- Communicate complex technical ideas clearly to external teams, peers, and stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and train others in testing processes and best practices.
- Establish new test evaluation processes and develop tooling and methods to improve testing efficiency.
Requirements
- Degree in, or highly relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant engineering field
- 6 - 8 years of relevant industry experience in test and evaluation of complex systems
- Proven experience in test and evaluation of complex systems
- Demonstrated understanding of the interdependency of Requirements Decomposition, Test Coverage, and Deficiency Resolution
- Experience with test methods, tools, and frameworks
- Ability to synthesize data into meaningful information to support decision making
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
