Job Description
The Staff Technical Program Manager - Hardware NPI at Aurora is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the development and manufacturing readiness of hardware modules for self-driving technology, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware new product introductions (NPI) for modules such as lidar, computer, and pods.
- Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to ensure hardware readiness for production.
- Manage day-to-day activities related to hardware modules' manufacturing readiness and communicate with contract manufacturers.
- Represent cross-functional activities at meetings with development, systems, and safety technical leads.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and unblock engineering for manufacturing readiness.
- Act as a liaison between manufacturing and development teams regarding product launch activities.
- Track and communicate manufacturing items, documentation, and status updates for OEMs and customers.
- Provide hardware program status updates, risk assessments, and mitigation plans in weekly reviews.
- Manage hardware change requests and run Change Control Board processes from B sample onward.
Requirements
- Experience managing engineering changes in short schedule development cycles.
- Experience with developing safety critical hardware, with bonus points for experience in robotics, automotive, or the aerospace defense industry.
- Experience with launching new hardware products to market and managing hardware product life cycles.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing (MFG) processes.
- Strong PLM experience with tools such as Arena.
- Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheets, MS Project, etc.
- Experience with task management tools such as Jira, Jira Tools, Confluence, etc.
- At least 7 years of experience managing complex hardware development programs and manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing hardware development programs and manufacturing processes in a safety critical hardware industry such as aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical devices.
- Experience with moving prototype products to high volume manufacturing and/or new line bring-up in Asia.
- Experience with the full product lifecycle including development, verification, and market introduction.
