Job Description
The Staff Software Engineer will design and develop high-performance, scalable backend systems to support Aurora's autonomous fleet operations, leading complex projects, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across teams to advance autonomous driving technology and fleet management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-performance backend systems and scalable architectures for fleet operations and autonomy feedback loops
- Lead technical execution for complex, multi-team projects to ensure platform robustness and maintainability
- Develop and optimize high-throughput services, event-driven systems, and data pipelines for autonomous fleet data processing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications and development roadmaps
- Establish best practices for code quality, system design, and operational observability
- Mentor and guide senior engineers to foster technical growth and problem-solving culture
Requirements
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems design, API design, scalable service architecture, and data modeling.
- Proven experience owning system architecture end-to-end, making strategic technical decisions, and driving multi-team engineering initiatives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across engineering and operational domains.
- Proficiency with Golang, cloud infrastructure, and operational tooling such as AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and observability stacks.
