Job Description
The Software Engineer will develop and optimize software frameworks for autonomous vehicle motion planning, focusing on real-time performance, system robustness, and safety-critical applications within Aurora's self-driving technology team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software for autonomous vehicle behavior.
- Develop and architect frameworks and interfaces for integrating core motion planning algorithms.
- Build onboard infrastructure to detect, capture, and analyze interesting scenarios and anomalous behaviors.
- Enhance the robustness, flexibility, and maintainability of the motion planner system.
- Optimize code paths to reduce latency and ensure real-time performance of safety-critical components.
- Improve world representation and data encoding to support various planning approaches.
Requirements
- Expertise in Modern C++, specifically for latency-sensitive and safety-critical applications.
- At least 2 years of applied industry experience in software engineering, with a focus on robotics or distributed asynchronous systems.
- Ability to thrive in a highly cross-functional environment, with the technical versatility to contribute across diverse domains ranging from software architecture and algorithms to data analysis and system validation.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including architecture design, code maintainability, test-driven development, and requirements verification.
- Demonstrated ability to execute independently, estimating work accurately, delivering on schedule, and communicating blockers effectively.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, data analysis, and automation.
