Job Description

The Senior Staff Vehicle Hardware Verification and Validation Engineer Lead at Aurora is responsible for defining and executing comprehensive hardware testing strategies for autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring the technical integrity and validation of vehicle hardware components through cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and implement vehicle hardware verification and validation test strategies and methodologies.
  • Coordinate and execute vehicle-level hardware testing across autonomous vehicle subsystems and platform integrations.
  • Provide technical leadership and act as subject matter expert for hardware verification and validation activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to align on test requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Standardize data collection, analysis, and documentation of hardware tests, and prepare technical reports for leadership.
  • Drive the development and improvement of internal test tools and support hardware data collection hardware and software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in hardware testing, verification, and validation, with a minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or lead role within the automotive or aerospace industry.
  • Deep understanding of V V processes, testing methodologies such as statistical analysis, fault injection, hardware in the loop, RCCA process, hands-on problem solving, and the development lifecycle for safety-critical hardware systems.
  • Experience with utilizing test automation tools and working with software development teams to define and deliver relevant software test tools for hardware functional verification.
  • Experience with sensing and data collection hardware such as accelerometers, strain gauges, force transducers, fleet operations, data logging equipment, and signal conditioning.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with engineering programs for requirement management and work tracking, such as JAMA and JIRA.
  • Experience with the latest automotive communication protocols.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Base salary range of $189,000 - $274,000 per year

Hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
