Job Description

The Senior Staff Tech Lead at Aurora will oversee the design and development of scalable fleet management tools and API integrations for autonomous vehicle operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build high-performance backend services and drive strategic technical initiatives in a fast-growing autonomous mobility company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of scalable cloud services for fleet management and partner API integrations.
  • Develop and deploy robust backend solutions, including APIs and data pipelines, leveraging modern cloud technologies.
  • Design complex systems from the ground up to support autonomous vehicle fleet operations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver features that impact end users at scale.
  • Mentor and review code of senior engineers to ensure engineering excellence and best practices.
  • Translate operational data and autonomy metrics into actionable insights through operator-facing tools and APIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of industry experience, with a deep specialization in Golang for building and operating large-scale, high-concurrency backend systems.
  • Expert-level ability to design and build large-scale gRPC services in Go, with a focus on idiomatic patterns, efficient memory management, and high-throughput concurrency models.
  • Deep expertise in building scalable web services and distributed systems within the Go ecosystem, including integration with AWS, Kubernetes, and Elasticache.
  • Experience working with Product Management and UI/UX Design teams to define and deliver features that impact end users at scale.
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices such as AWS, Kubernetes, Elasticache, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring alerting systems.
  • A track record of driving technical strategy, conducting high-level Go code reviews, ensuring engineering excellence, and mentoring senior engineers in idiomatic Go best practices.
  • Experience defining technical roadmaps and driving long-term strategic projects that span multiple engineering teams.
  • Phenomenal communication skills, including the ability to write effective technical specifications, provide constructive feedback, translate technical concepts into lay terms, and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Ability to use good judgment to balance speed and quality, delivering products in a responsible and sustainable manner.
  • A self-starter mentality capable of thriving in a growing environment where all hands are on deck, with a proactive approach to identifying and filling needs.

Benefits & Perks

Base salary range: 212,000 - 340,000 USD
