The Remote Assistance Specialist at Aurora is responsible for monitoring and resolving autonomous vehicle trigger requests, providing remote commands during testing, and supporting vehicle operations to ensure safety and performance in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and respond to trigger requests from fleet vehicles during testing and on public roads
Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles
Log real-time feedback on vehicle performance for engineering analysis
Triage and review remote assist workflows to ensure performance and compliance
Escalate operational issues with suggested solutions
Collaborate on cross-functional projects to improve vehicle operations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and software changes
Work with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Requirements
Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Keen attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
Consistent focus on safety
Ability to think critically
Willingness to learn every day
Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
Availability to work day or night shifts, including early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts
Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
Ability to safely monitor and resolve trigger requests from fleet vehicles across public roads and closed course testing sites
Ability to respond to and resolve trigger requests from autonomous vehicles in a timely manner
Ability to safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles for on-road and closed course testing
Log real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing for engineers
Triage and review of remote assist workflows that are key to performance metrics and compliance
Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of how the self-driving technology works, including understanding daily software and operational changes
Work toward quantitative and qualitative goals that impact Vehicle Operations and Aurora
Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Proficiency in G-Suite (desired but not mandatory)
Command line interface experience (desired but not mandatory)
Interest and aptitude for technology tools such as apps, gaming, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. (desired but not mandatory)
Experience working in a collaborative environment as a team player (desired but not mandatory)
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $27.00 - $39.00 per hour, with eligibility for an annual bonus and equity compensation
Work schedule: Day or night shifts, early mornings or late nights, rotating shifts, overtime, and some weekends
