Job Description

The role involves leading and managing enterprise-wide facility safety programs across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, reducing risks, and fostering a safety-focused culture within Aurora's growing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise Facility Safety strategy and programs
  • Manage and improve safety policies, metrics, and compliance across all facilities
  • Oversee the Terminal Safety Program and Site Safety Leads Program
  • Lead and manage a team of EHS specialists, terminal safety staff, and site safety leads
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety and environmental regulations
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Design and implement risk management programs for specialized environments
  • Develop and oversee budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation
  • Collaborate with Workplace, Security, and Operations teams on emergency response and business continuity
  • Lead safety drills and after-action reviews
  • Define and monitor safety KPIs related to compliance, cost, and risk reduction
  • Analyze product plans to proactively manage emerging safety risks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in EHS or facility safety management across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and implementing safety programs for high-risk environments such as test sites, manufacturing, and logistics terminals.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to partner cross-functionally and represent the safety function in internal and external forums.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 30% of the time.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic field environments with the ability to perform light physical tasks, including light lifting up to 10 lbs, and support field-level investigations.
  • Experience managing safety programs across a multi-site, distributed physical footprint (desirable).
  • Experience managing unique safety risks for technology research, development, testing, and operations (desirable).
  • Experience with rapidly scaling operational environments (desirable).
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or R&D environments (desirable).
  • Familiarity with safety management systems such as Samsara, Jira, Fleetio (desirable).
  • Experience managing contractor or third-party site safety programs (desirable).
