Job Description
The 3D Technical Director at Aurora is responsible for developing realistic virtual environments, creating scenario simulations to test autonomous vehicle perception systems, and designing tools to enhance world-building workflows using procedural asset creation techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop procedural assets for creating realistic virtual environments.
- Design and implement world-building tools to improve scenario creation workflows.
- Generate complex scenarios and simulations to evaluate the Aurora Driver’s perception system across various sensors.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Houdini and the application of procedural and automated asset creation methodologies.
- Expertise in Python, VEX, and scripting.
- Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing scalable workflows and pipelines.
- Experience in developing procedural assets for the creation of highly realistic virtual environments.
- Experience in designing and implementing world-building tools to enhance scenario creation workflows.
- Experience in generating intricate scenarios and simulations to assess perception systems across various sensors including camera, lidar, and radar.
- Proficiency in procedural scene and geometry generation.
- Experience in modeling vehicles, sets, or human figures.
- Knowledge of procedural surfacing, shading, and texturing techniques.
- Experience with dynamic simulations such as rigid body, human motion synthesis, fluid or gas dynamics.
- Familiarity with Universal Scene Description (USD) is desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in relevant fields (implied by the seniority level Mid-Senior).
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: 150,000-240,000 per year
Work environment: hybrid work environment with in-office presence at least 3 days per week
Additional benefits: annual bonus, equity compensation
