Job Description

A mid-level Structural Engineer responsible for designing and analyzing structural components for utility-scale solar and BESS facilities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own structural design packages for utility-scale solar BESS equipment platforms, skids, inverter transformer PCS pads, racking tracker foundations, piles, piers, mats, cable-tray, and site steel.
  • Perform structural calculations for wind, seismic uplift, and lateral settlement in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Translate geotechnical data into foundation design criteria and specifications.
  • Produce and review drawings, specifications, plans, sections, and connection details from design through construction documentation.
  • Model and analyze structural components using STAAD.Pro, Robot, L-PILE, or equivalent tools.
  • Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to align scope, schedule, and budget, and respond to RFIs and vendor shop drawings.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering; MS preferred
  • 6 to 10 years of structural analysis and design experience with steel and concrete
  • Strong experience with utility-scale solar BESS projects
  • Proficiency with STAAD.Pro or Autodesk Robot and L-PILE or equivalent foundation analysis tools
  • Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D literacy for plan production and markups
  • Working knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC codes
  • Ability to convert geotechnical reports into practical, buildable foundation designs
  • EIT certification required; PE certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience owning structural design packages for solar BESS equipment platforms, skids, inverter transformer PCS pads, racking tracker foundations, piles, piers, mats, cable-tray, and site steel
  • Experience running and documenting calculations for wind, seismic uplift, and lateral settlement in accordance with ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC standards
  • Ability to produce and review drawings, specifications, plans, sections, and connection details from 30%, 60%, 90% design stages through to IFC
  • Experience performing redline QA/QC and coordinating with CAD/BIM teams
  • Ability to model and analyze in STAAD.Pro, Robot, and L-PILE or equivalent software
  • Experience coordinating with project managers and civil, electrical, and geotechnical disciplines to align scope, schedule, and budget
  • Experience responding to RFIs and vendor shop drawings
