Job Description
A senior civil engineer responsible for leading site development for large-scale renewable energy projects, including planning, design management, permitting, client coordination, and construction support, with a focus on utility-scale solar and BESS infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site development for large-scale renewable projects, including scope, schedule, and budget management.
- Manage civil workstreams such as site planning, grading, drainage, roadways, stormwater, and erosion sediment control from feasibility through construction.
- Review and approve design calculations, plans, and specifications while enforcing QA/QC standards.
- Coordinate civil engineering with electrical, environmental permitting, and survey disciplines to resolve interfaces and constraints.
- Lead permitting and entitlement processes, including submittals, responses, and utility coordination.
- Manage client relationships by overseeing schedules, budgets, risks, change orders, and presenting technical findings.
- Support construction activities through RFIs, design clarifications, site reviews, and field support.
- Mentor and lead engineering teams, delegate tasks, and develop best practices and standards.
Requirements
- A BS in Civil Engineering; MS is a plus.
- 8 to 12 years of civil site design experience, with at least 4 years in utility-scale solar, BESS, or comparable large infrastructure projects.
- Proven project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary design teams and mentoring junior staff.
- PE license or the ability to obtain one in a short order; strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel periodically for site walks, permitting meetings, and construction support.
