Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead and support interconnection and power system studies for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and BESS, ensuring designs meet standards and collaborating with internal teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support interconnection and power system studies for utility-scale renewable and high-voltage projects
- Perform PSSE and PSCAD studies, including load flow, dynamic analysis, and renewable model tuning
- Support projects across solar, wind, BESS, substations, transmission, and distribution
- Collaborate with internal teams across various engineering disciplines and project management
- Prepare and review technical deliverables such as reports, design criteria, specifications, and study documentation
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and field walkdowns
- Ensure designs and studies comply with applicable codes, standards, and quality expectations
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Strong experience supporting interconnection studies and power systems analysis
- Experience with tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, PSLF, ASPEN, PowerWorld, ETAP, SKM, CYME, EMTP, or similar
- Ability to perform PSSE and PSCAD studies, including load flow, dynamic analysis, and renewable model tuning
- Experience supporting projects across solar, wind, BESS, substations, transmission, and distribution
- Ability to prepare and review technical deliverables including reports, design criteria, specifications, study documentation, scopes of work, and engineering packages
- Experience supporting interconnection and power system studies for utility-scale renewable and high-voltage projects
- Ability to support and lead interconnection and power system studies
- Ability to support projects across solar, wind, BESS, substations, transmission, and distribution
- Ability to support and participate in client meetings, site visits, and field walkdowns
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and quality expectations related to electrical design and studies
- Understanding of ISO RTO processes such as ERCOT, MISO, or SPP is a plus
- PE license is a plus, but not required for the right candidate
