Job Description
The Project Engineer will lead and manage engineering activities for energy projects such as pipelines and facilities, providing technical guidance, coordinating design efforts, and ensuring project compliance and performance across various stages from feasibility to detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities for oil, gas, and energy projects, including pipelines and facilities.
- Provide technical guidance and review design efforts to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve high-quality project execution.
- Identify and address project risks, issues, and impacts related to safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop design basis and scope packages for electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Monitor project progress, review design submittals, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Assist in procurement processes, including RFP development and management of subcontractor relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related field is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Experience in energy projects, including oil, natural gas, CO2, hydrogen, and RNG pipelines and facilities.
- Ability to develop and demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions of the job, including leading project teams, providing technical guidance, and managing engineering activities.
- Experience managing engineering activities related to design for major Oil & Gas Energy projects, including pipelines and facilities throughout the US.
- Ability to serve as the main point of contact for engineering activities and coordinate efforts with EPC or external consultants.
- Experience providing engineering technical input into projects at various stages from feasibility to detailed design.
- Experience reviewing and commenting on design submittals in coordination with subject matter experts.
- Ability to manage and ensure all deliverables meet project specifications.
- Experience managing external engineering firms, subcontractors, and various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Ability to identify and manage critical risks, issues, and impacts related to project execution, including adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Experience reviewing and monitoring contractors' progress and project milestones.
- Ability to coordinate with Development, Engineering, Permitting, GIS, and Land groups internally.
- Experience assisting procurement in running RFPs and managing subcontractor processes.
- Ability to develop, review, and refine electrical and instrumentation designs for natural gas transmission facilities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Experience working on project sites including mainline valve stations, metering and regulating stations, pipelines, and compressor stations.
- Ability to collaborate with project teams to define requirements and produce basis of design documents and comprehensive E I scope packages.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
