Job Description
The Structural Engineer will lead and support structural design projects related to power generation and transmission facilities, managing technical aspects, collaborating with clients and teams, and ensuring compliance with regulations to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage structural engineering resources and support project teams.
- Lead and mentor project team members on technical assignments.
- Develop project plans, prepare proposals, and ensure deliverables meet quality and timelines.
- Prepare, review, and finalize structural design documents, reports, and analyses.
- Implement revisions to plans and documents based on regulatory and client feedback.
- Conduct site visits to support project development.
- Utilize engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D for project tasks.
- Engage with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies for project communication.
- Provide project status updates and workload management to project leaders.
- Apply engineering principles and industry best practices to project deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is preferred
- Twelve (12) or more years of experience in structural analysis and design of structural steel and concrete foundations deep and shallow for heavy industrial, power generation, and/or electric transmission projects
- Experience in structural analysis and design of structures for substation and transmission line projects or gas generation facilities is preferred
- Ability to manage structural engineering resources and ensure support to proposal and project teams
- Ability to participate in recruitment efforts to grow the structural engineering team
- Experience in leading and supporting project teams, providing technical training and mentorship
- Experience in developing project plans, preparing proposals, and ensuring all deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations
- Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and finalizing structural design deliverables, reports, computations, structural analyses, project schedules, and budgets
- Ability to provide recommendations to the Project Manager regarding project design deliverables or scope
- Experience in modifying plans and documents based on feedback from agencies, municipalities, and clients to ensure compliance with local and state regulations
- Ability to conduct site visits to support project development
- Proficiency in applying AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software in completing assignments
- Experience in managing client, agency, and regulatory communications, including responding to review letters and coordinating project updates
- Ability to provide project updates and status reports to the Project Manager and Team Leader
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and industry best practices
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload to meet project deadlines
