Job Description
The Director of Survey is responsible for leading survey operations, managing client relationships, overseeing project financials, mentoring team members, and driving business growth within a land development-focused surveying division.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for survey projects.
- Manage client contracts, define project goals, and oversee negotiations.
- Oversee project invoicing, accounts receivable, and ensure financial alignment.
- Facilitate internal communication and coordinate with stakeholders on project parameters.
- Mentor and support team members to promote professional growth and ensure quality outcomes.
- Drive business growth through marketing, client engagement, and proposal management.
- Ensure thorough documentation of projects using web-based tools.
- Stay updated on industry trends and implement improvements to project performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in survey project management and leadership roles, with at least 5 years of experience in a land development-focused survey leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, engineering, or related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Professional licensure or certification in surveying, engineering, or related field.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to engage effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering, environmental, land planning, and survey concepts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a track record of handling multiple projects.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development.
- Experience in developing and executing a Project Manager Business Plan to steer survey projects towards success.
- Experience in engaging with clients to define project goals, manage contract negotiations, and ensure agreements are in place before project start.
- Experience in overseeing project invoicing, accounts receivable, and ensuring financial alignment with contracts.
- Ability to facilitate internal communication, foster team collaboration, and coordinate with stakeholders to define project parameters.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting team members, promoting professional growth, and ensuring high-quality project outcomes.
- Ability to drive growth through strategic marketing, client engagement, and proposal management.
- Experience in ensuring efficient and thorough project documentation using web-based tools.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and apply insights to improve project performance and outcomes.

Compensation range: $130,000 - $180,000 USD
