Job Description

The Construction Project Manager for Renewables at Atwell oversees and coordinates the engineering and construction of large-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring technical quality, safety, and timely delivery while managing stakeholder communication and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Owner's Engineering oversight activities, integrating technical, environmental, scheduling, and document control functions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across disciplines to ensure deliverable alignment and consistency.
  • Maintain clear communication with owners, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to support project transparency.
  • Oversee documentation workflows, including drawing reviews, comment resolution, and recordkeeping.
  • Track project milestones, update schedules, and support budget adherence by early risk identification.
  • Prepare and present project updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Ensure all activities comply with environmental regulations, design standards, and client expectations.
  • Capture lessons learned and develop recommendations for process improvements.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in the construction of utility-scale renewable energy projects for at least 7 years, including some experience in civil, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical DC, MV, HV construction work.
  • Experience with renewable energy major equipment types such as PV modules, solar trackers, inverters, MV transformers, substations, MPT GSU transformers, and a plus battery storage modules, instrumentation, SCADA.
  • Experience in construction project management, quality management, and safety management practices.
  • Proficiency with construction document management systems and construction management software, including Microsoft Office software Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Must possess or obtain, and maintain throughout employment, a valid US Driver’s License.
  • Must possess or obtain, and maintain throughout employment, an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training certificate.
  • Must possess or obtain, and maintain throughout employment, an NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace certificate.
  • Must possess or obtain, and maintain throughout employment, a First Aid CPR AED certificate.
  • Ability to engage directly and professionally with Atwell clients and all parties on site.
  • Ability to work at client project sites long term, anywhere in the continental United States, including Texas and Illinois.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and under all safe weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely drive and walk around a construction site, avoiding all hazards.
