Job Description
Assist in construction inspection and project coordination under supervision, ensuring compliance with specifications, documenting activities, and supporting project management tasks in civil engineering and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in construction inspection and document daily activities
- Coordinate project acceptance testing and perform materials inspection
- Identify potential construction problems and communicate with contractors and engineers
- Perform installation tasks, field measurements, and interpret project specifications
- Implement safety policies and complete quality system tasks
- Prepare and submit detailed reports, logs, and construction documentation
- Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and contractors
- Conduct on-site observations, resolve construction issues, and monitor project progress
- Support construction management activities and develop contract administration processes
- Keep supervisors informed of workload, project scope changes, and additional services
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a related field
- Valid driver s license
- Familiarity with Public Works Standard Specifications
- Ability to read plans and have a good understanding of project specifications
- Basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations of installed quantities
- Ability to operate a level and have an understanding of cut and fills and elevations for grades
- Availability to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary
- Ability to design engineer moderately difficult engineering projects
- Demonstrated project management skills and multitasking abilities
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
- Knowledge of industry-related software
- Fluency in the English language
- Must be able to read reports and use the computer
- Must hear well enough to communicate with coworkers
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, lift, pull, push, grasp, and feel
- Must be able to write, type, and use a phone system
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds
