Job Description
A civil engineering drafter responsible for creating and reviewing detailed site development drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting land development projects by ensuring accurate design documentation and compliance with standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to design staff on drafting practices, standards, and procedures
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software to produce civil engineering drawings
- Create site layout, grading, stormwater management, sewer, water, and construction plans
- Review survey data and existing site conditions to inform design
- Revise plans based on feedback from municipalities, agencies, and clients
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Team Leaders to support workflow and project schedules
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; technical certificate or associate degree in drafting or engineering technology preferred
- 4 to 10 years of civil design experience within residential, commercial, or industrial land development
- Experience with land development projects on Maryland’s Eastern Shore is a strong plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required
- Ability to produce civil engineering drawings including site layout, grading, soil erosion and sediment control, storm sewer, water, sanitary sewer plans, construction layout, and construction staking
- Ability to review project survey data to assess existing site conditions and key development factors such as ALTA surveys, legal descriptions, easement documents, and condo documents
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with Project Managers and Team Leaders regarding workflow status
