The Lead Combustion Engineer is responsible for developing and leading high-pressure oxy-fuel combustion systems for carbon-neutral power generation, guiding a team through design, testing, and optimization to achieve high efficiency and reliability in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own and lead the development of high-pressure oxy-fuel combustion systems for carbon-neutral and carbon-negative power cycles.
Guide a team through end-to-end design, modeling, testing, and validation of combustion devices.
Drive technical strategy from concept to implementation, including rapid iteration and performance optimization.
Mentor junior engineers and coordinate efforts across test, analysis, and design teams.
Make critical trade-off decisions to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance of combustion systems.
Requirements
Experience serving as the technical authority for combustion systems, specifically pioneering high-pressure oxy-fuel combustion systems similar to rocket-inspired designs.
Ownership of the combustion subsystem, including guiding a team through end-to-end development of high-efficiency combustion devices.
Ability to drive strategy from clean-sheet concepts and advanced modeling to hands-on testing, rapid iteration, and performance validation of combustion systems.
Proven experience in making critical trade-off decisions to optimize efficiency and reliability of combustion devices.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and aligning cross-functional efforts with test, analysis, and design teams.
Demonstrated capability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment focused on breakthrough, high-efficiency combustion technology.
