Job Description
This internship offers hands-on experience in tax and audit services within a professional CPA and advisory firm, allowing students to work with diverse clients, develop technical skills, and participate in professional development activities in the Washington DC Metro area.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tax services including planning, consulting, and compliance for multiple clients
- Interact closely with clients to provide tailored tax strategies
- Work with partners to develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies
- Assist in improving clients' financial reporting capabilities and internal controls
- Evaluate accounting issues and stay updated on new accounting regulations
- Assess the quality of financial information used for strategic decision-making
- Build and maintain relationships with middle to large-sized audit and tax clients
Requirements
- Candidates must be high-potential accounting students interested in Audit and Tax.
- Candidates must want to continue Aprio's standard of excellence and be willing to dive straight into hands-on accounting projects.
- Candidates must be available to participate in the Spring 2027 Internship (January - April) or Summer 2027 Internship (June - August).
- Candidates must be willing to work at the Washington DC Metro office location.
- Candidates must have the ability to work with small, medium, and large clients and benefit from diverse client interactions.
- Candidates must be able to develop a solid general foundation in accounting through on-the-job training and real-world experiences.
- Candidates must be able to interact closely with clients to provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services, and work closely with partners on delivering tax planning strategies.
- Candidates must be able to work with and form relationships with middle to large-sized tax and audit clients.
- Candidates must be able to work with diverse and energetic teams within the tax and audit departments.
- Candidates must be able to improve financial reporting capabilities, evaluate accounting issues, and stay ahead of new accounting regulations impacting business growth.
- Candidates must be able to assess the quality of information used for strategic business decisions and identify areas for operational improvement.
- Candidates must be able to work in a professional environment that fosters continuous professional development.
- Candidates must be able to complete a group project involving volunteering and social impact as part of the internship program.
